Advice and answers from the Timely Team

One of the features we're most proud of in Timely is the unique calendar integration. It works with all major calendar formats and this guide will hopefully answer all your questions about how it works. Here's a quick rundown on how to set up the integration and some rules for the calendar formats.

Timely needs a default project to import your calendar entries to. If you want to import your work calendar, you'll probably have meetings and scheduled activities for different clients in there. A smart work flow could be creating a project for the purpose of imports, call it "Imports," and change the entries to the correct project as you go along.

Calendar App Integration (Google, Office 365, & Outlook)

Integrating your App Calendars are easy peasy.

With App Calendars you can import recurring events, multi-day events, and full day events. The initial import of the calendar only takes some minutes. After that, auto imports happen in nearly real time.

Rules

  • Events you have changed in Timely, e.g. updated the time or project, will stop updating if you do changes in your said integrated calendar.
  • Events that have not been changed in any way in Timely will update when you do changes in your calendar.
  • Data is never sent back or changed in your Original Calendar. The stuff you do in Timely stays in Timely.
  • Private events won't import into Timely

*Multi-day events will only show up on the first day (e.g. if event is Mon-Wed all day, the event will only import on Monday into Timely).

Do you support  Apple Calendar?

Unfortunately not and the only calendars we do support right now are Google, Office 365, and Outlook but if you'd like to give it an upvote on our public app roadmap that feel free to do so! Check that out here.
